Hopefully you’ll never need it, but it’s good to know that your eligible deposits with Triodos Bank UK are protected up to a total of £120,000 by the FSCS. An eligible deposit is money in accounts such as current and savings accounts, including cash ISAs.
Please note that the £120,000 will apply to the total of all eligible deposits with Triodos Bank rather than per account or product. Any deposits over this amount are unlikely to be covered.
Joint accounts
If you have a joint account, you will each be protected up to £120,000. So, £240,000 in total.
Businesses and charities
In general, deposits from businesses, charities and small local authorities are covered by the FSCS deposit protection up to £120,000, although some exclusions may apply. You can review the eligibility criteria on the FSCS website.
Investment accounts
The FSCS does not cover money in investments. If you have a Triodos Investment Account, Stocks and Shares ISA or Junior Stocks and Shares ISA, your money held in the linked Cash Account is covered by the FSCS.
However, once money is invested into the Triodos Impact Investment Funds (such as the Triodos Global Equities Impact Fund) the money is no longer covered by the FSCS.
Junior accounts
- Money held in junior savings and cash ISAs are protected - that means your child's money in the Triodos Junior Cash ISA and Good Start Saver are protected up to £120,000.
- If you have a savings account with Triodos, your child’s savings are protected separately, meaning their £120,000 limit is in addition to yours.
- Important: The FSCS does not cover money in investments. So, while cash in the Cash Account linked to the Junior Stocks and Shares ISA is protected, once it’s invested, it’s no longer covered.
